As sports fans across the world enjoy the Olympics, we’re celebrating the Tokyo Games with five £250 funding awards to sports groups across East Kilbride.
The £250 awards are part of our Community Fund initiative which supports groups or individuals who are making a difference to people’s lives in the town. Since its launch, the Fund has supported over 100 groups.
The first group to benefit from the sporting awards is East Kilbride Gymnastics Club. The Club, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, has trained thousands of champions and recreational gymnasts alike since its foundation, with over 1000 current members benefiting from EKGC facilities.
Nicky Youl, senior club coach said: “This is fantastic news and a great boost for the Club. With more and more organisations across the country looking for support it is getting harder to raise funds. We had been looking to update the equipment for our pre-school classes and this has allowed us purchase mats and specialist gymnastic stepping-stones.”
Applicants for the Community Fund are reviewed every quarter. If you’re looking for details on how to apply, you can find on the Community page HERE.
