SUPERHEROES SET TO RETURN TO EK…
Following the largest gathering of superheroes and superfans that East Kilbride has ever seen, the popular BGCP Comic Con is returning to EK, East Kilbride with an even bigger event in March.
EK Comic Con will be back in Centre West on March 11th and 12th with fans and cosplayers treated to a packed programme of character visits, workshops and over 80 traders of fantasy, sci-fi and pop culture merchandise.
The record-breaking event, held in Centre West in November 2022, attracted thousands of superfans to EK, East Kilbride to browse over 70 specialist stalls and meet sci-fi and superhero icons including Star Wars Stormtroopers, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Event Organiser, Ian Bonar, of BGCP Comic Con, said, “The EK Comic Con in November attracted more visitors than we’ve ever seen before in East Kilbride which made it the most successful event we’ve ever run. Thousands of fans turned up over the two days and met many of their favourite characters, with loads of visitors dressed up too. We expect the event in March will be bigger again with even more traders offering a vast range of merchandise for fans and collectors alike.”
A spokesman for EK, East Kilbride added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for Comic Con, The Return. The last event saw thousands more people than usual visiting the centre, with many dressed up in spectacular costumes. There was a real buzz around the centre, which was great to see. Our retailers also saw an increase in people visiting their stores with the food and drink units being full for most of both days.”
Arcade machines and modern gaming consoles will also feature along with ‘make your own slime’ and ‘make your own superhero mask’ classes.
Superfans can also look forward to the return of the ever-popular BGCP Cosplay Competition, with the top tribute outfit being named at the end of the weekend event.
