Call for Community Fund entries!

Scotland’s largest undercover shopping centre is putting a call out to community groups across East Kilbride to get in touch if they feel they could benefit from support.

EK, East Kilbride is looking to make ten £100 awards through its long running Community Fund initiative to groups or individuals who are making a difference to people’s lives in the town.

Over the years The Community Fund has helped more than 70 good causes in and around East Kilbride. Swimming clubs, dance groups, caring initiatives, playgroups, schools, theatre companies and a host of other good causes have benefited from funding support, and the centre is now looking to build on this activity with the new awards.

Ian McLelland, Centre Director at EK, East Kilbride, said: “The centre is an important part of East Kilbride life and we take our role within the local community very seriously.Over the years we have worked closely with a variety of groups through our Helping Hands initiative, supporting them with fundraising and providing mall space to raise awareness of their activities. At the heart of our Helping Hands programme is the Community Fund. Since it was set up the fund has supported many good causes however, we know that there are lots of fantastic groups and organisations who perhaps don’t know about the initiative, and that was why we decided to put out a call for applications.I would urge anyone who is looking for support to get in touch.”

Applicants for the Community Fund could be involved in anything from a sports club or theatre group to a club for the elderly or a playgroup.

Applications are reviewed every quarter and the February deadline has been extended to 28th March 2018. Anyone looking to apply for an award should CLICK HERE or pick up an application form from the customer services in Centre West.
