NEW FREE TABLE TENNIS INITIATIVE SERVES UP FUN FOR SHOPPPERS

The first Pop In & Play table tennis venue in South Lanarkshire has opened in Centre West and shoppers are being invited along for a smashing session!

The new community initiative is being run by East Kilbride Table Tennis Club (EKTTC) in partnership with Table Tennis Scotland and with support from EK, East Kilbride.

EKTTC’S fun FREE initiative is open between 11am and 2pm Monday to Friday and supervised by local volunteers.  Equipment is provided so visitors don’t need to bring their own.

Brendan Faulds, Chair & Coach at East Kilbride Table Tennis Club, said: “We are delighted to open this facility for the benefit of the people of East Kilbride and visitors to the area. The club has been an active part of the East Kilbride sporting landscape for over 45 years and this venue gives us the opportunity to support the community in a much broader sense, encouraging people to return to the sport or to take it up for the first time.”

Alan Smillie, centre manager at EK, East Kilbride added: “This is a great initiative that underlines the town centre’s position at the heart of the EK community.  I am sure our shoppers, and sports fans generally, will welcome East Kilbride Table Tennis Club to Centre West, and pop along for a fun game or two.”
